In this article, we will focus on siding repair and go over a few ways to tell if your siding could use our attention.

How to Tell if You Need Siding Repair

  • Cracks, Rot, or Warping. One way to tell if you need siding repair is to check your siding for any cracks, rotting, or warping. Pay attention to even small cracks, as they can be a sign of a larger problem. To check for rot, poke around—is your siding solid and firm when you touch it, or does it give way? If the latter, then you need siding repairs.
  • Blistering Paint. Another sign that you most likely need siding repair is blisters or bubbles in the paint. This indicates that water has become trapped under the paint, meaning that you have a moisture problem. Since the purpose of your siding is to protect your home or building from moisture problems, this means that you have a real problem on your hands.
  • Higher Energy Bills. In addition to protecting your building from water damage, your siding is also supposed to help your building maintain its interior temperature by preventing heat from leaking in or out. In light of this, another sign that you need siding repair is an increase in your energy bills—if your bill gets higher for no apparent reason, we recommend that you have your siding inspected.
